Michael Shawn Phillips, 47, of Newberry died unexpectedly on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center. Born on July 24, 1974, in Pomona, CA he was a son of the late Samuel and Candise Broom Phillips. Shawn worked as a Finance Manager with Quick Credit in Newberry. He loved all things Clemson University and enjoyed basketball, especially Michael Jordan. He was a genuine person with a big heart for helping people. Above all else, he loved his family and found great joy in his grandbabies. He was a member of Glory Tabernacle Church in Newberry. Shawn is survived by his wife, Natosha Barker Phillips; children, Eric Jordan Phillips, Nicholas Scott Phillips, and Dustin O'Bryan Phillips (Katie Bedenbaugh); grandchildren, Jocilynn Ruff-Phillips, Aiden Phillips, and Kallani Phillips; special niece, Kelly Hendrix (Adam); numerous nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Chelsa Beach; and a niece, Kandace Schmidt. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Glory Tabernacle Church by Pastor Joel Mundy and the Rev. Paul Rowe. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Phillips, Nick Phillips, Jordan Phillips, Jacob Coffey, Hiro Shimoda, Jay Vaughn, Adam Hendrix, and David "Flick" Long.
