Obituary

Mildred Hipp Hunter Chapman 94 of Newberry wife of the late Ishmael E. Ish Chapman died Saturday July 26 2014 at her residence. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday July 30 at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Tresco Shannon. Interment did follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Viewing and visitation was from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Wednesday in Henry Hall of Central United Methodist Church. Born on March 5 1920 she was a daughter of the late Joseph Fincher Hipp Sr. and Sarah Sligh Hipp. She was a faithful and active member of Central United Methodist Church where she belonged to the UMW Circle 6 the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Class and the Ezelle Sunday School Class. She was retired from W.E. Baker and Son after twenty two years with the firm. Mrs. Chapman is survived her daughter Rachel Hunter Lester and her husband Marcus of Prosperity; grandsons J. Calvin Cal Sharp Jr. (Anna) of Bluffton and E. Hunter Sharp of Freeport ME; great grandchildren Wells Price Sharp Taylor Smith Sharp and Lydia Jane Sharp; sisters Marjorie Kirkpatrick of Enka NC and Gladys Corley Gilliam of Clinton. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Kimberly Ann Kim Sharp and siblings: Evelyn Polson Carol Hipp and Joseph Fincher Hipp Jr. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Ezelle Sunday School Class and of the Wednesday Bible Study Class.
