Mildred Perdue Sligh 90 of Newberry died Monday December 29 2014 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville SC. The family will receive friends at Whitaker Funeral Home on Tuesday December 30 2014 from 5:30 until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Wednesday December 31 2014 at 1:00 PM conducted by the Rev. Richard Webber and the Rev. Andrew Eargle. Interment will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Born on October 15 1924 she was a daughter of the late William Bud M. and Sallie Minick Perdue. Mrs. Sligh was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Her joys were helping others baking and being a caregiver. She truly loved her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter Judy Holliday (Ed) of Greenville; sons Jimmy Sligh (Mary Ellen) and Steve Sligh (Leslie) both of Newberry; grandchildren James E. Sligh III (Gail) Mary Jane Sligh Zwart (J.P.) Brad Holliday (Nikki) Emily Holliday Stevie P. Sligh Jr. (Tonya) and Chrissy Sligh Harris (David); great-grandchildren Elizabeth Sligh Keribeth Zwart Kayleigh Jane Zwart; Lucy Holliday Lil Stevie Sligh Dylan Sligh Taylor Harris Jonathan Harris and Karrington Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years James Jim E. Sligh Sr. two sisters and a brother. Pallbearers will be Stevie Sligh Jr. James Sligh Brad Holliday Lil Stevie Sligh Dylan Sligh and J.P. Zwart.
