Milford B. "Bill" Pierce, 95, formerly of Nashville, TN died May 5, 2021 at NHS Healthcare in Clinton, SC. Born on March 6, 1926 in Montgomery County, TN, he was a son of the late Augustus Byran Pierce and Susie Belle Howard Pierce. He was married to the late Willie Neal Clark Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He served in the 9th Armored Infantry in France and joined General Patton's 6th Armored Division ("Super Sixth") of the Third Army as Patton invaded Germany. He was involved in the US Army liberation of Buchenwald Concentration Camp in April of 1945.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi ("Ole Miss"), he worked until retirement as a pharmacist. He was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. Skeet shooting, quail hunting and water skiing were some of his favorite sports. He appreciated music and enjoyed playing the electric and steel guitars.
He is survived by his daughter, Janice McCormack of Nashville, TN; son, Tracy Pierce (Serita) of Thompson Station, TN; grandchildren, Gregory H. McCormack (Courtney) of Gallatin, TN, Toni M. Pierce and Jordan T Pierce both of Thompson Station, TN; and a brother, Dr. Clovis H. Pierce (Mary Jo) of Kinards, SC. In addition to his parent and wife, he was predeceased by siblings, Katye Austin, Geneva Pierce and Glen Pierce.
Military Honors and Funeral Services will be conducted on May 22nd at Hopewell United Methodist Church, Clinton, SC, beginning at 2pm, with Pastor Mitchell Wray officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Green Grove Cemetery, Hartsville, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the Hopewell United Methodist Church Building Fund. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at whitakerfuneralhome.com.
