Mimia Eleanor Cromer, 85, of Newberry, South Carolina, died on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at White Oak Manor.
Born on April 7, 1941, in Newberry, South Carolina, she was a daughter to the late Harold Lee Cromer and Myrtle Childress Cromer.
After 28 years of dedicated service as a registered nurse at Whitten Center, she retired from her profession, but her compassion and commitment to helping others never ceased. She continued to give back to her community by knitting blankets for Palmetto Children’s Hospital and remained actively involved as a member of the South Carolina Nursing Association.
In her spare time, she often enjoyed relaxing in her rocking chair with a good book. But Mimia’s family was the true joy in her life, trying to spend as much time with the granddaughter she cherished so deeply.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Lee Kitchens; granddaughter, Eleanor Kitchens; sister, Kay Wicker; thirteen nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mimia was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Livingston and brothers Harold Lee, Charles, Frank, and Mark Cromer.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the St. Philip's Lutheran Church Cemetery fund.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cromer family.
