Minnie Lee Chapman Shealy, 92, died on Monday, July 26, 2021 at her home in Chapin.
She was born in Newberry County on September 4, 1928, a daughter of the late James A. and Eula Shealy Chapman and for almost 53 years was married to Fred A. Shealy who predeceased her in 2015. She was a member of St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Chapin.
Mrs. Shealy's was a lady of strength who was very content with the life that she was blessed to have lived. She remained very independent up until the day that she died. Throughout her years, she enjoyed her gardens and crocheting many afghans, centerpieces and bedspreads. She was an excellent baker, known for the cakes that she made, and they were enjoyed by everyone who ever had a taste.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Donald R. Turner of Chapin; grandsons, Chris G. Turner of Chapin and Andrew B. Turner of North Charleston; great grandchildren, Caroline and Duncan Turner; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and their spouses, Carolyn C. Etheredge and husband Edwin and Eula Mae C. Nolff and husband Dwight.
A funeral service will be held at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church on Thursday, July 29 at 11:30 AM with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. David Nuottila is officiating.
Following the committal service at the graveside, the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Randy Nolff, Scott Nolff, Curtis Nolff, Alvin Etheredge, Jamie Amick and Douglas Sealy.
The family expresses a very special thank you to Ebbie King for all the love and care given to Mrs. Shealy during the past years. They also express their sincere thanks to Amedisys Hospice, to the Pinner Clinic and to Peak Pharmacy for their support and kindnesses.
