Mitzie Baker Smith, 82, of Galivants Ferry, formerly of Newberry, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at her residence. Born on November 2, 1935 in Whitmire, she was the daughter of the late C. Howard and Lottie Smith Baker. Mrs. Smith was the former owner of Mitzie Hair Boutique in Newberry. She loved attending church and attended the Lugoff Church of God. Mitzie was a loving wife and mother who always put her family's needs before hers. She is survived by her husband of 67 years this May, Leland Smith; her children, Cindy Hamilton and husband Jeffrey of Aynor and Gerald Smith of Galivants Ferry; and her grandchildren, Seth and Reece Hamilton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Heritage Wesleyan Church conducted by the Rev. Mark Stevenson And Rev. George Vastain. Interment will follow in Whitmire Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 3 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the church prior to the funeral service. Active pallbearers are Bobby Bostick, Robbie Bostick, Sean Bostick, Eddie Raines, Jim Brissey and Ronnie Jones.
