On July 6. 2022, Montine White Luther went to be with her Heavenly Father surrounded by family, friends, and caregivers. Her well-lived life will be remembered by all as a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born at home in Lithonia, Georgia, on April 8, 1929.
Montine is survived by her husband James P. (Jim) Luther; her children Susan Pease, Becky Sturkie, Phillip (Kay) Luther, Cindy (Mike) Harvell; eighteen grandchildren and their spouses; forty-one great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Phyllis Muller and Lou Luther. She is preceded by her parents Lonnie and Sybil White and her sister Winnette Buice.
Her devotion to Christ was exemplified in her love and faithfulness to Him by her unwavering service to her large family and a host of friends through her gracious hospitality in their home. As current members of Chapin Presbyterian Church, she was active in the many churches she and Jim attended during their seventy-three years of marriage, holding leadership positions and assisting wherever needed.
After Jim's retirement, they enjoyed many years of travel throughout the United States and Canada. The godly example of her gentle, quiet spirit is evident in the lives of her children, their extended families, and the many friends whose lives have been touched by her genuine love.
Visitation will be held at Chapin Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. on July 9, 2022. The funeral service will follow visitation at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Chapin Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
We can't express our gratitude enough for the kindness and support of Agape Care and McLeod Home Care. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Chapin Presbyterian Church, 600 Old Lexington Highway, Chapin, SC, 29036.
