Nancy Burnett Beard, 85, died April 2, 2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. Nancy was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Mary Young and Glenn Herbert Burnett. Nancy grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended Bass High School. She later attended Erskine College where she met her husband, Dr. Joseph Franklin (Frank) Beard. Frank and Nancy would have celebrated their sixty-fifth anniversary in June. After Frank's ordination into the ministry he and Nancy served congregations in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The couple retired to Irmo, South Carolina and then to Savannah, Georgia. Anyone who met Nancy knew her to have a bubbly personality and positive attitude. She was cheerful and outgoing, and truly never met a stranger. Those who knew her will miss her quiet strength and gentle nature. Nancy is survived by her husband Frank, her sons Bob (Debra) and Glenn (Dale) and her daughter, Amy Durden (Wayne). She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
