Nancy Yvonne Ortiz, 85, of Newberry, SC passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at White Oak Manor.
Born in Nashville, TN on January 9, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Shelton and Charlie Whitfield Nolen Brooks. She was one of nine children.
Ms. Ortiz was a strong and resilient woman who lived a full and meaningful life. She traveled all over the world and enjoyed seeing and learning about new places and people. She retired as a Postmaster with the United States Postal Service, a role she was proud of obtaining.
Survivors include her children, Janet Lugo (Frank Riffle), James Hunter (Tamatha), Deanna Cobler (Phil), and Darryl Hunter (Laura); her step-children, Anita Ortiz-Gehle (Kevin), Jay Ortiz (Karla), Jennifer Mansfield, Michael Ortiz (Paige), and Emiliano; a sister, Marion Teague; 16 grandchildren, Ann, Jan, Brian, Cesali, Jeremy, Justine, Brittany, Cody, Kayla, Kasey, Megan, Jessica, Zachary, Matthew, Bella, and Brooklyn; and 18 great grandchildren, Cameron, Anson, Gisele, Felicia, Brayden, Camden, Nathaniel, Brett, Erica, Kyleigh, Skylar, Parker, Easton, Brooklyn, Reid, Lawson, Marek, Juno, and Sean.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Martin (Dale); and grandsons Jimmy and AJ.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 12th, 2:00 at the home of Phil & Deanna Cobler, 103 Lost Lure Ct, Ninety Six, SC 29666.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and volunteers of White Oak Manor for the care and concern given to Ms. Ortiz, particularly Alicia (Nurse) and Bill and Jane Whirley.
