Naomi Lindler Counts 99 of Chapin widow of Alvin Counts died Wednesday February 5 2014 at Generations of Chapin Funeral services was held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 3:00 PM on Saturday February 8 2014 with Rev. Brett Collins officiating. Burial did follow in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday February 7 at Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin. Born June 24 1914 she was a daughter of the late Pearson and Katie Cannon Lindler. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church a member of Women of the ELCA and of the Womens Sunday School Class. Naomi is survived by her daughter Bettie Derrick (the late Louie Derrick) of Little Mountain; her sons Heyward (Brenda) Counts of Lexington and Benny (Bonnie) Counts of Chapin; two sisters Mrs. Drucilla Boland and Mrs. Esther Frick both of Chapin; brother Herbert (Cathryn) Lindler of Chapin; sister-in-law Mrs. Pearl Lindler of Chapin; nine grandchildren Alex and Chad Counts Jill Williamson Brantley Hodges Chris Counts Carroll Derrick Barry and Barney Derrick and Clair Wicker; eighteen great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. Grandsons did serve as pallbearers. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a grandson Al Derrick; three brothers Louie Van Lindler Clyde Lindler and Loy Lindler; and two sisters Annie Ruth Frick and Mabry Metts. The family thanks the staff at Generations of Chapin and the staff at Blue Ridge Hospice for their loving care. They extend a special thank you to Dr. Susan Thomas for many years of diligent and loving care. Also they extend a special thank you to friends and family who visited and showed special kindness to Naomi while in Generations helping to make her days more pleasant.
