Narvice Cousins Gilbert, 90, of Saluda, NC, was born December 16, 1932, in Newberry, SC. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jackson R. Cousins. She was married for 53 years to Fredrick Charles Gilbert Jr of Saluda, NC. She resided at Gilbert Orchards for 68 years.

Narvice was a person of strong faith who loved her Lord and her family above all else. She had a love for nature and a talent for growing beautiful flowers and gardens. She applied her natural talent to the family business, Gilbert Orchards, where she was the backbone of the business.  Not only did she help run the family business, but she kept the team fed through long days in the orchard.  She had a servant heart and was always looking for ways to serve and teach others in the family and community. She was an excellent caregiver to multiple family members.  Not only did she care for her family, she cared for her hummingbirds.  She enjoyed spending her time watching them come and go, and even had them trained to tap on the window if the feeder was low.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Cassandra Gilbert Conner and Tim Conner of Saluda NC. Her 3 Grandchildren: Glen (Pernilla) Gilbert, Megan (John) Conner Davis, and Heather (Landon) Conner Bradley. 6 Great Grandchildren: Mataeo, Luca, Emma Gilbert, Abigail Davis, Corbin and Cayson Bradley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fredrick C. Gilbert Jr., two sons Wendell F. Gilbert and Randall C. Gilbert.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, 2-3pm at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry.  Graveside service and interment will follow at 3:30pm in Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry.
