Nick Bouknight 32 of 2213 Timber Lane Newberry died Tuesday May 14 2013. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 PM Friday May 17 2013 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Todd Johnson. Interment did follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 3:30 to 5:30 PM and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Born on June 17 1980 in Newberry he was a son of Donald Hugh Bouknight and the late Ann Kingsmore Bouknight. Nick was a Sergeant with the Newberry County Sheriffs Department where he received the 2003 Deputy of the Year award. He was a member of the Newberry Exchange Club and served as 2012-2013 President. He was the recipient of the 2012 Exchange Club Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award. He attended The Masters Baptist Church and he enjoyed sporting events hunting fishing and golfing. But most important Nick will be remembered as a loving and devoted father. In addition to his father of Newberry he is survived by his wife Casey Wilson Bouknight of Pomaria; son Blake Nicholas Bouknight; step-daughter Whitney Nicole Parks; brother Chris Bouknight of Newberry; half-sister Candice Bouknight of Greenville; James and Ellen Mack Judy and Frank Hamm all of Newberry; cousins Jamey (Kim) Mack of Prosperity and Brett (Meredith) Hamm of Newberry. He was predeceased by his mother; his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Kingsmore and his paternal grandparents Buck and Ruby Bouknight. Pallbearers was the Newberry County Sheriffs Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Huffstetler and members of the Newberry County Sheriffs office.
