Olin Johnston Coppock, 90, of Newberry, South Carolina, died on Thursday, September 10, 2026 in Columbia, South Carolina.
Born in Newberry, South Carolina, on June 16, 1936, he was a son to the late Roscoe and Mary Auton Coppock.
Olin lived his life to the fullest, always maintaining a positive attitude and never allowing limitations to stand in his way. He loved talking with people, and it was said that he never met a stranger.
After retiring from American Fiber and Finishing, he could often be found enjoying his work mowing the grass at Newberry Memorial Gardens. In his spare time Olin was a talented shag dancer and enjoyed being part of the Yellow Rock group. He often enjoyed riding his beloved horses, which brought him great joy.
Olin is survived by his sons, Christopher Olin Coppock (Candice) and Chad Patrick Coppock (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Britt Coppock, Haven Coppock, Madison Coppock, Catherine Coppock, Reese Long and Katerina Koon (Patrick), who was also his special care taker; great- grandchildren, DaVina Byrd, Weston Byrd, Colt Coppock, Laikin Coppock, Levi Koon, Lily Koon; brother, Wayne Coppock (Lynn); and sister-in-law, Judy Coppock. Olin was also survived by his dearly beloved K-9 companion, Star.
In addition to his parents, Olin was predeceased by his wife, Brenda McCartha Coppock; sister, Ethel Gail Coppock Doolittle; brother, Steve Coppock; and brother-in-law, Chester Doolittle.
A visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry, with burial to follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to Bethany Lutheran Church, Newberry.
