Patricia Ryan Smith, 89 years of age, died on Monday, February 3, 2020 at her residence in Chapin.
Born on April 9, 1930 in Kittanning, PA, she was a daughter of the late Rodney "Roddy" and Florence Greenawalt Ryan. She was married to the late Lawrence "Larry" Smith for fifty-nine years.
Mrs. Smith worked as a graphic artist for Southern Bell in Columbia and she was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Art was her passion and she enjoyed her time teaching art in the schools. This always happy lady had a great sense of humor and was very much a people person. She never shied away from anyone who wanted to talk, always ready to join them in conversation.
Survivors include her children, Kim Elliott of West Columbia, Tania Smith of Elgin and Todd Smith of Chapin; grandchildren, Brooke Elliott, Kaylan Smith Naughton (P.J.), and Keely Smith Dial (Austin); great grandchildren, Knoll, Rivers, Kendell, Presley and Britton; and her brother, Jack Ryan of Arizona; In addition to her husband Larry, she was predeceased by a grandchild, Kristen Smith and a sister, Carol Silvis.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin. The family will receive friends following the funeral service.
