Paul Michael Linhardt, 60, of Chapin died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 22, 2021.
Born on October 13, 1960 in Camden, NJ, he was a son of the late Robert John and Barbara Kelly Linhardt. A 1978 graduate of Irmo High School , he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of South Carolina in 1982.
Paul has been a member of our Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin, St. John Neuman Church in Columbia and Our Lady of the Hills Church in Columbia.
A former Texas State Auditor, he went to work for SC State Housing Authority in 1989 as an accountant. For almost 32 years, he took pride in helping to provide housing for the people of SC in both the Home Ownership program and Section 8 Rental Assistance program. He loved his co-workers like family and enjoyed many decades of fond memories of working with them.
Paul was known as the consistent one – always dependable, always available when friends and family needed him. He never wanted to let others down and he almost never did. He loved board games, cards, and Carnival Cruises. Most importantly he really loved his wife, kids and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 39 years, Beth Dorn Linhardt; children, Lisa Vaughan (Peter) of Chandler, AZ, Laura Linhardt of Lexington, SC, Staff Sargent Michael Linhardt (Melissa) of Ft. Eustace, VA, and Leslie Lindler (Kyle) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Shane, Trig, and Joy Vaughan and Faye Lindler, and siblings, Robert Linhardt (Kathy) of Albany, NY, Sue Drehmel (Bill) of St. Paul, MN, Laurie Odland (Jim) of Seattle, WA, and Marc Linhardt (Maureen) of Kildeer, IL.
Memorial services will be celebrated by the Rev. Dennis Willey at 1:30 PM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery and the repast will follow at La Fogata's Mexican Restaurant in Chapin.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin.
