Peggy Jeter Green, 91, of Whitmire, died Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Springfield Place, Newberry, SC. She was born in Union County, on September 12, 1933. She spent her entire life on the Jeter family property until the last 3 months of her life. She is the daughter of the late Elbert Evans Jeter and Grace Rochester Jeter.
Peggy and her husband Aubrey B. Green, Sr., were married for 71 years. Together they worked hard to raise their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She retired from Newberry County School District in 1992 after 30 years as Secretary of Whitmire High School. She truly loved her job and touched the lives of many young people.
Peggy was a lifelong member of Whitmire Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School to the nursery children for over 60 years. This was one of Peggy's true joys in life. Peggy's greatest love went to her family, all children and pets. She possessed a great love for sunflowers and enjoyed growing them in her garden.
She is survived by her children, Barbara G. Hazel (Robert), Aubrey B. Green, Jr. (Lorraine), Janet Caudill, Kathy Evans (Larry); 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charlie Jeter (Phyllis) and her faithful K-9 companion, Scotty. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a brother, William Jeter; sisters, Jessie Jeter Dixon and Mary Jeter Tumlin and son-in-law, Ronnie Caudill.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Whitmire Presbyterian Church, 274 S. Church Street, Whitmire, SC, 29178. A private family burial will take place in Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will gather for visitation from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry Chapel, 1704 College Street, Newberry, SC, 29108.
The family would like to express great appreciation and thanks to Teresa and Sara, with S.C. House Calls, the nurses and staff at Springfield Place, Dr. Bernardo and Bernardo Hospice Care nurses for their care and kindness to their mother.
