Phillip Smith of 514 Floyd Street, Newberry, died January 30, 2020 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born on May 3, 1962 in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Thomas Wayne Smith, Sr. and the late Judy McCarson Martin. He is survived by two brothers, Thomas Wayne "Toby" Smith, Jr. (Teresa) of Prosperity, and Michael Smith of Columbia. He is also survived by his daddy, Richard Martin (Vicky Hamby) of Belton. Phillip was self-employed and formerly owned Newberry Cut and Trim. He enjoyed nature. He was a great inspiration to those who knew him especially as he suffered from a brain tumor and the effects of surgery in these last years. He "fought a good fight, he kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7-8 A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Freedom Baptist Church at 5:00 P. M. on Friday, February 28, 2020. The family would like for anyone with memories of Phillip to share at this service.
