Rachel R. Moates Preston 76 of Newberry died Saturday December 19 2015 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday December 22 2015 at Newberry Church of God conducted by Pastor Michael Davis. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home. Born in Newberry on February 27 1939 she was a daughter of the late William Earl Moates and Ellen Black Moates. Mrs. Preston worked as a custodian in the textile industry and was a member of the Newberry Church of God. Her favorite pastimes were cooking playing cards talking on the phone and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Lavada Ann Teseniar (Joe) of Newberry George W. Bubba Preston of Gilbert Willis Dean Preston (Judy) of Gilbert Wanda Kay Coats (Guy) of Newberry David Russell Preston of Newberry Lisa Rose Padgett (Kojak) of Saluda and Michael Lee Preston of Columbia; siblings: Mickey Moates Terry (John) Bill Moates (Joanne) Earl Moates (Jane) Bobby Moates (Betty Gale) and Luther Moates (Linda); twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by grandson Wesley Shealy great grandson Brier Bouknight and siblings Olin Moates Big Jim Miller and Earlene Foster. Active Pallbearers will be Adam Teseniar Jr. Christopher Teseniar George Hazel Patrick Padgett David Preston Jr. David Sellers and Jessie Crapps.
