Obituary

Ralph L. Cannon 91 died Wednesday October 4 2006. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Schumpert Cannon and the oldest son of the late Rufus and Rosa Belle Rauch Cannon. He was born February 8 1915 in Chapin and was a lifelong member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church Chapin where he served in various offices and committees in the church. He was a charter member of Lutheran Men in Mission Primetimers and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a long time employee of Cannon Construction Company in Newberry and was proud to have been the construction superintendent of many homes churches and businesses in and around Newberry Greenwood Laurens and Lexington. On retiring he spent his time running his small farm growing a vegetable garden and making many articles in his wood-working shop. He had an excellent memory and enjoyed sharing stories of his life.Mr. Cannon is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; Margie and Earl Lindler Evelyn and Wayne Stoudemire and Sadie K. and Tommy Benton; a son and daughter-in-law; Wayne and Jennifer Cannon all of Chapin; nine grandchildren and spouses Kenneth (Libby) Lindler Aubrey (Lisa) Lindler Carol S. (Gibson) Solomons Dale (Wendy) Stoudemire Daran (Michelle) Stoudemire Wanda K. (Mel) Harrill Susan K. (Ken) Hawkins Wendy C. (Mike) Bell and Clay (Tracy) Cannon; sixteen great grandchildren Kristina and Matthew Lindler Cody and Jesse Lindler Karen and Allen Solomons Kelly Nathan and Sarah Stoudemire Dylan Stoudemire Lauren and Kristen Harrill Addison Hawkins Jared and Reece Bell and Mahala Cannon; a step great-grand daughter Bridgette H. Hayden a sister Dorothy C. (L. J.) Long of Prosperity; a brother Claude Cannon of Chapin. He was predeceased by a sister; Eula Mae C. King and two brothers; Ellis Cannon and Curtis Cannon and a son-in-law Donald Koon.Funeral services were held 11:00 A. M. Saturday at Saint Peter Lutheran Church Chapin by the Rev. David Tholstrup with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. Friday at the funeral home.
