Ransom Samuel Bush, 90, of Silverstreet, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his residence.
Born on April 3, 1928 in Winnsboro, SC, he was a son of the late Ransom S. and Ophilea Gray Bush.
Ransom was a US Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer and retiring after honorably serving his country for twenty years. He valued the Navy and was a true sailor, even in his vocabulary.
He was a member of the Amity Masonic Lodge #87 and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. Mr. Bush was a self-educated man that grasped every opportunity to expand his knowledge. He enjoyed playing his guitar and loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his son, Charles "Charlie" Richard Bush (Gwen) of Brady, TX; daughter, Ronda Bush Perry of Silverstreet; grandchildren, Julie Davis, Rustin Scott Bush, Tonya Garland, James "Jamie" Ray Perry, Jr., and Marlena Bush; great-grandchildren, Jacob Reed Garland, James "Jody" Ray Perry, III, Wyatt Samuel Davis, and Karl Logan Perry; and sisters, Mary McJunkins of Newberry, Brenda Calvitt of Lexington and Annie Amick of Chester..
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean McCracken Bush; daughter, Donna Bush Seeliger; great grandchild, Caleab Ryan Bush; and siblings, Margret Markee, Gladys Wilson, Ella Stevens, John Bush, Richard Bush, Betty Gresham, Curtis Bush, and infant siblings, William and Marion Bush.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 21 at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe.
Burial with military honors will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
