Rev. Mitchel Kirk Burriss 68 of 1610 Harrington St. Newberry died Friday September 3 2010 at the Lexington Medical Center. He was born on October 29 1941 in Greenville SC a son of the late T. Riley and Ruby K. Burriss. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and Holmes Theological Seminary and was an Air Force Veteran. Rev. Burriss was a Minister with the Assemblies of God Church and was currently serving Faith Assembly of God in Newberry. He is survived by his son Mitchel C. Burriss of Newberry; a sister Joyce (Neil) Garrett of Mebane NC; and a brother Clyde R. Burriss of Clearwater Fla. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Geraldine George Burriss. Funeral services were conducted at 12 Noon on Wednesday at Faith Assembly of God by the Rev. Charlie Clinton. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery Greenville SC. The family did receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Active Pallbearers were Ronnie Cannon Bobby Banister Sr. Brent Bannister Earl Dominick Steve Morse and Lee Copeland. Honorary pallbearers will be David Whitman and Sanford Jones.
