Richard Tai Phan 81 of 321 Player St. Newberry died Tuesday January 10 2006 at Self Regional Healthcare.Mr. Phan was born on September 2 1924 in Hong Kong a son of the late Hung Phan and Mui Phung. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam.Mr. Phan is survived by his wife Elizabeth Thai Phan of Newberry; three daughters My Huong Phan of Greenwood My Anh Phan Nguyen of Newberry and Julea Phan Ingold of Lexington; seven sons Nang H. Phan of Newberry Tri H. Phan of Greenwood Robert T. Phan of North Augusta Timothy H. Phan of Austin TX Woody H. Phan of Cary NC Dave H. Phan of Bogart GA and Thinh H. Phan of Seattle WA; three sisters; two brothers; 23 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter Jessica Phan Nguyen.Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Rokuzan Kroenke. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery.The family was at his residence 321 Player St. Newberry.Active pallbearers were his sons and sons-in-law.
