Robert C. "Bobby" Smith, Jr., 67, of Newberry, died Sunday, July 2, 2017 at his residence.
Born on March 29, 1950 in Newberry, he was the son of the late R. Clayton Smith, Sr. and Marion Scofield Smith.
Bobby was an entrepreneur who was the owner and operator of Smith Pecan Shelling Company
and also Smitty's Marine. He was the former owner of Smitty's Country Store in Silverstreet and for many years he was active in Quail Unlimited.
Bobby knew how to enjoy life and have fun. He found pleasure in being on the lake boating and fishing. He valued buying and selling most anything, going to auctions, playing pool as well as cards and shooting skeet. He was always a gracious host to anyone who visited and wanted others to have fun and enjoy life also.
He is survived by his daughter, Keely S. DeMarino (Lou) of Chapin; son, Robert Clayton "Clay" Smith III of Rock Hill; his loving grandchildren, Steven and Christopher DeMarino; sister, Debbie C. Waldrop (Dave) of Newberry; significant other, Linda Crossland Counts of Newberry, and his nieces, Jaime Waldrop Van Zadelhoff and Whitney Waldrop Cromer
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at his home following the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Hobby, Billye West, Dr. Mark Davis, Arnold Hiller, Phillip Mays, Thad Mays, and Russell Price.
