Robert D. Conger 84 of 1783 SC Hwy 391 Prosperity died Friday November 4 2011 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Center. Born in Parkersburg West Virginia on November 2 1927 he was the son of the late William and Lillian Tanner Conger. Mr. Conger was an Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver for Castle Steel for many years and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Catherine Smith Conger; sons Johnny Conger and Ronald Boogie Conger both of Prosperity; brother Charles Conger of GA; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Donald Donnie Conger. The family did receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 PM Wednesday November 9 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Griffith. Interment with military honors was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Alfonzo Martin Jeffrey Gantts Derry Hawkins Markie Mercado Terry Parker and David Lake.
