Obituary

Robert Marcellus Renwick 87 of Newbery died Thursday July 9. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday July 12 2015 at Newberry Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday July 11 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home. Born on August 30 1927 in Newberry County he was a son of the late James S. and Ethel McGill Renwick. Mr. Renwick served his country in WWII in the U.S. Navy Seabees in Siapan. A lifelong member of the Newberry Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church he served on various committees including Treasurer Congregation Chairman Deacon and as a Ruling Elder. He was a faithful member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Mr. Renwick was also a member of the Newberry Exchange Club for 49 years where he held various offices. He was a past Cub Scout Leader and was always active in community affairs. He worked as a salesman for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Newberry for 15 years owned and operated the Red and White Super Market in Newberry for 25 years and retired as a Warehouse Supervisor at Thomas and Howard Company in 1993. Mr. Renwick dearly loved his God church family and friends. Mr. Renwick is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Vernetha Renwick; children Lt. Col (U.S. A.F. Ret.) William Renwick (Terry) of Sumter Hugh Renwick of Charlotte NC David Renwick (Susan) of Spartanburg and Martha McGuffee (Mark) of Taylors; grandchildren Leslie Chapman (Harley) Robert Renwick (Kirkley) Brian McGuffee Nicole Renwick Luke Renwick Adam Renwick Jack Renwick and Anna Grace Renwick; great-grandson Miles Renwick; and devoted nieces nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by siblings Harold Renwick Jim Renwick John Renwick Charles Renwick Mary Lominick and Helen Halfacre. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of Newberry Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
