Roderick "Rick" Caston entered the church triumphant Sunday, December 14th, 2025, at age 72. Born in 1953 in Chester, South Carolina to parents Russell and Dorothy Caston, he was a long-time resident of Prosperity, South Carolina.
He is survived and missed by his loving wife Christine Caston and his children Lisa Tinker (Lee), Jennifer Summer (Amy), and Danny (Mandi) Wicker. Poppy, as he was known, will be forever cherished and remembered by his 9 grandchildren Amber Bennett (Spencer), Kayla Caston Huntington (Josh), Brian Caston (Morgan), Christian Caston (Jenna), Victoria Webb (Braeden), Austin Summer (Abbigail), Cameron Wicker, Jackson Wicker, Mackenzie Tinker, and his 4 great grandchildren River, Finley, Delilah, and Cohen. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis Flowers and niece Cheryl Cooper.
Rick was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pomaria. He taught the Adult Sunday School class, sang in the choir, and led and served the Lutheran Men's group.
Rick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army; later enlisting in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed music by various genres, such as Gospel, "Oldies, but Goodies", Beach and Country.
Rick was an avid University of South Carolina Gamecock fan, watching every football game and always in support of the USC Women's basketball team. Rick loved to play golf and enjoyed softball in his earlier years.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 4, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pomaria.
Family will receive friends for visitation, from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2496 SC Hwy 773, Pomaria, SC 29126.
