Roger Arnold Bouknight of Anderson, went to be with his Lord on December 2, 2017, his 78th birthday. Born on December 2, 1939 in Newberry, SC, he was the only child of the late Edward "Buck" and Ellen Bishop Bouknight. He had made his home in Anderson, SC since 1976 and worked most of his life as a textile plant manager. He was a dedicated member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Anderson where he had held numerous positions. Most of his life he had been a choir member, either at New Hope or in former churches. Roger loved antique cars and was still the proud owner of his 1951 Mercury Coupe that he honeymooned in. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Beckham Bouknight; two sons, Craig A. Bouknight (Vickie) of Honea Path and Chris M. Bouknight (Stephanie) of Anderson; six grandchildren, Ashton Bouknight Vernia (Ryan), Celeste R. Bouknight Griffin, Morgan N. Bouknight, Tori Buchanan and Joseph M. Chastain. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Bouknight in 1970, a grandson, Christopher Griffin in 2015 and a great granddaughter, Harper Rae Vernia in 2016. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in Newberry Memorial Gardens, Newberry, SC. A memorial service will be held at a later date at New Hope United Methodist in Anderson, SC. Pallbearers will be Joseph Chastain, Ryan Vernia, Brent Davis, Blake Davis, Craig Bouknight and Chris Bouknight.
