Roger William Corner

Jul 16, 1942 — Jun 25, 2026

Roger William Corner, 83, of Chapin, South Carolina, died on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 16, 1942, to the late William Thomas Harvey and Mary Alice Corner, Roger’s personality was, and always has been, larger than life itself.

Roger was a veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country in Vietnam. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Eastern Michigan University, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to self-employment, where he successfully owned and operated a Goodyear tire store. Roger's professional journey was marked by his integrity, diligence, and ability to connect with people – he had the gift of gab and loved to converse with anyone.

Known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and fun-loving personality, Roger was a beacon of positivity, finding joy in the simplest of moments. His kind-hearted nature and positive outlook on life left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Roger loved golf and cherished the peaceful moments spent on the golf course, which he considered his happy place. He also had an immense love for travel, visiting sites such as Yosemite National Park, Greece, and the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. Above all, family and friendship gave Roger the most enjoyment in life, never missing the opportunity to attend a sports event with his grandkids.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan Barbara Boyer Corner, his daughter, Cathy Rosa Corner Deese (Chris); son, Brian Corner (Christi); son, Craig Corner (Lesley); five grandchildren, Lainey, Liana, Logan, Camy, and Colton; and his beloved dog, Teddy.
