Ruby Connelly Roland Herrin, 91, of Newberry, died on January 8, 2021. She was born on September 9, 1929 in Joanna, a daughter of the late JB and Pearl Bouknight Connelly. She was twice married, first to the late James "Jimmy" Roland and later to the late James P. Herrin. Mrs. Herrin worked for Damon International for thirty years and retired from the Newberry County School District where she worked in Food Service for eleven years. She was a member of O'Neal St. United Methodist Church for 70 years and later became a member of First Baptist Church in Newberry. She also enjoyed membership in the Palmetto Bell Camping Club and the Parks Prayer Group. Mrs. Herrin is survived by her daughters, Linda Hiller of Newberry and Dale (Mark) Smith of Aiken; step-daughters, Kay Wingard of Greenville and Alicia (Jerry) Willingham of Newberry; step-sons, Alan (Andy) Herrin and Donnie (Lori) Herrin, both of Aiken; 2 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; special niece Kathy (Virgil) Buchanan of Kinards; and her cat, Sadie. She was predeceased by her parents; husbands; sister, Jeanette Minick of Newberry; and brothers, Ralph Connelly of Columbia and Lawrence Connelly of Aiken. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
