Ruby Lee Turner Toon, 85, of Lexington, went to be with Our Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital. Born on March 29, 1933 in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Colie and Lizzie Snipes Turner. In her earlier years Ruby enjoyed runway modeling and was known by many as a part of the Women's Club that campaigned for Floyd Spence. She is survived by her daughters, Cherri Sweat of West Columbia and Deborah Simpson-Enlow (Jerry) of Blythewood; and a son, Phillip Owen Simpson of West Columbia. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James Garrison Toon; a son, Christopher Douglas Simpson; and siblings, Annie Ruth Turner Harlin, Steven Turner, Harmon Turner, Charles E. Turner, and Sarah Jane Turner. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Newberry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 West 44th Street, Suite 609, New York, NY 10036.
