Ruby Long Leopard, 84, of Newberry, died Saturday, September 2, 2017 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Born on September 10, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Richard S. Long and Pearl Amick Long. Mrs. Leopard was a member of West End Baptist Church. She worked many years at Roses Dime Store in Newberry, eventually retiring. She is survived by a son, Mark Leopard; grandchildren, Luke Leopard and Heather Halfacre; and siblings, Johnnie Lowder, JoNell Dixon and George Long. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cecil "Speck" F. Leopard; and sisters, Mary Kinard, Jean Suber Kinard, and Sara DeHart. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 3:00 PM conducted by the Rev. Timothy Thompson. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
