Ruby Hughes Mills, 85, of Newberry, died Tuesday, December 14, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center. Born on November 14, 1932 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Jesse J and Grace Eargle Hughes. She was employed with Southern Bell for a number of years. Ruby was a classy, wise and beautiful lady who appreciated the value of family and friends. Family was her everything and she believed that time with them and with the friends of her family was an important part of her life and definitely time well spent. She was lovingly known as Ma-Ma. She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Benjamin T. "Buck" Mills; daughter, Karen Stone of Newberry; granddaughter, Kristy Barnes of Chapin; great-grandson, Ashton Barnes and sister, Louise H. Morris of Newberry. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Benjamin Maxcy Stone and her siblings, Burton Hughes, Myrtle H. Reagin, Mary Ruth H. Long, Clara H. Holland and Joyce H. Attaway. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will be at the residence of her daughter Karen, 1215 Hillcrest Rd., Newberry.
