Rufus Phillip Bedenbaugh, 83, of Prosperity, died Friday, July 1, 2022 at his residence. Born on September 20, 1938 in Prosperity, he was a son of the late W.P. and Louise Peggy Shealy Bedenbaugh. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Prosperity and served in the Army National Guard for several years. Phillip was a farmer through and through. He worked for 37 years at Carter and Holmes, growing and caring for the orchids and plants. Above all Phillip loved his family. He was a devoted son and husband, caring for both his mom and his wife until their passing. He was a loving dad, granddad, and brother and treasured the moments to just be near his family. He is survived by his children, Lisa Kinard (Jeffrey) of Prosperity, Steve Bedenbaugh of Irmo, and Sharon Chappell (Mark) of Pomaria; grandchildren, Phillip Chase Chappell, Allyson Buchanan (Eric) of Boiling Springs, Stephanie Schultheis (Drew) of New Bayden, IL, and Julie Ann Kinard of Stallings, NC; great-grandson, Lucas Murphy Buchanan; and his brother, Willie Bedenbaugh, Sr. of Lugoff. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Linda Harmon Bedenbaugh; brother, Allison Bedenbaugh; and his beloved dog, Lady. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry by the Rev. Steve Jackson. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
