Ruth Bouknight Wicker 85 formerly of Main St. Newberry widow of Claude Wicker died Saturday March 14 2009 at White Oak Manor.Mrs. Wicker was born on March 29 1923 in Newberry County a daughter of the late W. Floyd and Lucy Cromer Bouknight. She was the owner and operator of Rugayle's Beauty Shop for over 30 years.She was a member of O'Neal Street United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the Bernice Martin Sunday School Class the church choir the Administrative Council the PPRC Committee and the Kathleen Dubose Circle where she had served as Circle Leader. Additionally she had served as the Flower Coordinator for the church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 226 and a former member of the RSVP Singers.She is survived by two sisters Doris B. Wise of Newberry and Nedra B. Turner of Spartanburg; a brother Rudolph Bouknight of Newberry. She was predeceased by a daughter Gayle Wicker and two brothers Carman Bouknight and Charles BouknightFuneral services were conducted 3:00 P.M. Monday at O'Neal St. United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Steven Todd. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery.The family was at the residence of Rudolph Bouknight 1408 Dave Dr. Newberry and did receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
