Ruth Price Hewitt, 76, of Greenville, died Saturday May 18, 2024 at National Health Center, Mauldin.

Born on May 17, 1948, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Irby L. and June Price.

As a child, Ruth and her brothers spent countless summers in Newberry, spending time with their grandparents and extended family. Ruth was a 1966 graduate of Crossland High School in Temple Hills, MD and a 1970 graduate of Newberry College where she joined the Kappa Delta sorority. Following graduation, Ruth taught elementary school in the Greenville County School District. She earned her Master's in Education in Library Science, and continued with Greenville County School's as a librarian.

Her faith was an important part of her life and over the years she attended Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Abundant Life Church, and Summer Memorial Lutheran Church.

She was a devoted aunt and would take her nephews skiing and to ice hockey games all over the United States. It was through these trips they formed their love of winter sports.

Ruth was a talented person and enjoyed doing a variety of crafts. She worked with ceramics, designed and made holiday shirts, and scrapbooking.

She is survived by her brothers, David R. Price of Lexington, SC and J. Michael Price of Ft. Myers, FL and nephews, Matthew Price (Magdelena) and Ryan Price.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Judith Ann Price.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Newberry Memorial Gardens.
