Sandra "Sandy" Marie Northup Harris, 68, of Chapin, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at her residence. Born on February 10, 1948 in Cortland, NY, she was the ninth in the sequence of the eleven children born to the late Franklin and Marjorie Burdick Northup. Sandy was a member of Homer Methodist Church in NY and was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader. She enjoyed bowling and was addicted to hazelnut coffee. Deeply loved by her family, they will especially remember her for her great sense of humor, for possessing a huge heart, and for always being their shoulder to lean on. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Theodore "Ted" C. Harris; children, Theodore Charles Harris, II (Pamela) of Summerville, Stephanie Ann Wilson (Martin) of Newberry, and Heidi Marie Ward (fiancé Marcus Pippins) of Chapin; grandchildren, Justice Robert Harris, Kassandra Nicole Ward, Nolan Ryan Ward, Logan Martin Wilson, and Darryl Hughes (Mandy); great-grandchildren, Mattix Hughes and Savannah Hughes; siblings, Carol Carpenter (Robert) of Zephyrhills, FL, Kevin Northup (Tina) of Oxford, NY, Nancy Root (Paul) and Cynthia Northup of Homer, NY, and Jay Northup (Greta) of Virgil, NY; and mother-in-law, Nancy B. Harris of Chapin. She was predeceased by brothers, Hugh, Keith, Douglas, John, and Khim Northup; aunts, Camillia and Kathryn Burdick; and uncle, Lawrence Burdick. Funeral services will be held at Whitaker Funeral Home, 939 Chapin Road, Chapin SC on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM by Rev. Thomas W. Vaughan, Sr. Interment will be in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 3:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
