IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon
Miceika
April 29, 1950 – April 28, 2025
Sharon L. Miceika, 74, of Prosperity, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025—just one day before her 75th birthday. She was born April 29, 1950, in Calumet City, Illinois, to the late Bernard and Shirley (Hybiak) Zyglowicz.
Sharon was the first in her family to earn a college degree, proudly graduating from DePaul University in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Her career was marked by ambition and success, including her role as Assistant Treasurer in the reinsurance industry and later, as a realtor. Yet her favorite role by far was being a mom. She lived for her children and found deep joy and pride in their accomplishments.
Service to others was a cornerstone of Sharon's life. In Illinois, she was an active member of the Delnor Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as President and managed the hospital gift shop for many years. After relocating to South Carolina, she quickly became a vibrant part of the Pointes of Plantation Pointe community. She loved participating in her Bible study, book club, Bunko nights, and bridge games. Sharon was a woman of strong faith and attended the Church of the Good Shepherd in Columbia.
At home, Sharon poured her love into every detail—especially in the kitchen. She had a passion for cooking and was constantly trying new recipes and making them her own. Her legendary lasagna was a family favorite, always requested for birthdays and holidays. She was in the process of creating personalized recipe binders to pass down to her children.
A talented floral arranger, Sharon found joy in crafting beautiful pieces for weddings, wreaths, and centerpieces—often convincing her husband Gene to join her on supply trips to Hobby Lobby. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, and Hallmark movie marathons. Her simple pleasures included dirty gin martinis, fine dining, 60s music, and the joy of giving thoughtful gifts.
Sharon and Gene shared a passionate, romantic, and deeply devoted love throughout their 47 years together. She had a gift for honoring her Polish heritage and blending it with Gene's Lithuanian traditions, creating magical Christmas memories for their family year after year.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Gene Miceika of Prosperity, SC; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Aimi Nguyen of Tampa, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Erin Miceika and Pierre Gervais of Island Pond, VT; her brother, Barry Zyglowicz of Hammond, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alan Zyglowicz.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1512 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC, with a gathering of family and friends immediately following the Mass.
Memories and messages of love may be shared on her tribute wall.
