Shirby Adams Chapman passed away at her home on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Born November 15, 1936, in Prosperity, SC, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Gladys Stockman Adams.
A faithful and active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church she served in the Loving Hearts and Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry. She treasured the many hours of needlework and the friendships and fellowship of this group.
Shirby was a dedicated homemaker, accomplished seamstress, and quilter. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, and watching her hummingbirds. Also known for her delicious cooking, her family relished her homemade noodles, liver nips, bread, and fried apple pies. Shirby was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Debra (James) Wieters, Louie (Velvet) Chapman, Allen (Linda) Chapman, Kelvin (Amy) Chapman; grandchildren, Sarah (Marwan) Dahdouh, Carrie (Brian) Howland, Katherine Wieters, Kristie Chapman, Anthony (Rachael) Chapman, Elizabeth (Andrew) Chase, Amanda (Brandon) Metts, Julia Chapman, Dalton Chapman, Victoria (McKenzie) Knight, Hannah Chapman, Cannon (Will) Dominick, MiKayla (John Steven) Trammell, Marshall Elliott; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Reba (Douglas) Warren, and sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Chapman.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Rufus Loyd Chapman; and siblings, Ettie Killian, Betty Seibert, and Troy Adams.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mary House for her compassionate care of our mother. She truly became a special friend to all of us.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Trinity Life Center. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.
