Shirley Jones Perry, 81, of Prosperity died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born on February 7, 1935 in Belton, SC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. Jones and Modena Conyers Flessas. Mrs. Perry was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church and also a member of the Newberry Chapter #226, Order of the Eastern Star. Following her retirement from McKechnie Vehicle Components, she worked with Best Western. She enjoyed sewing and was an outspoken woman with a strong conviction. Mrs. Perry is survived by a son and his wife, Leonard Wayne Perry, Sr. and Pamela of Newberry; three grandchildren Steven Perry, Christy Reynolds, and Wayne Perry, Jr. (Kelly); four great grandchildren, Eddie Musgrove, Brenna Perry, Ashtyn Perry, and Eithan Perry; sister, Bonnie Sue Amick of Gaston; mother-in-law, Sudie Henderson Perry of Newberry and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, L. Joel Perry, a sister, Barbara Jones Duffie and a brother, Edgar Jones. Per Mrs. Perry's request, no services will be held. The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Perry, 36 Railroad Ave., Newberry, SC.
