Shirley Ann Jones Vance, 86, of Chapin died Thursday, March 25, 2021 at her residence.
She was born on March 12, 1935 in Baltimore, MD a daughter of the late Lawrence Leroy and Bertha Elmyra Forwood Jones.
Shirley was proud to be a life-long resident of the Baltimore area. She was a 1953 graduate of Towson High School and remained close with her classmates. She retired as a supervisor in the Office of Assessments and Taxation for the State of Maryland and cheered for the University of Maryland and the Baltimore Orioles.
She enjoyed board games and playing cards but what made her happiest was spending time with all of her family.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Allan R. and Kerry L. Vance of Chapin, SC and Charles E. "Eddie" and Peggy Wiser Vance of Ridgely, MD; grandchildren, Daniel and Laura Vance, Sarah Vance, and Reis Ely Vance; great grandchildren, Elijah, Nathaniel, Micah, Isaiah, and Anna Lee Vance and Ryder Wildman-Vance; sister, Patricia Hannibal; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Charles Edward Vance, Jr.; and siblings, Margaret Meany, Charles Jones, and Lois Henry.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, April 11 at 4:00 PM at Chapin Baptist Church at 950 old Lexington Hwy in Chapin, SC. Family services will be held at a later date in Baltimore, MD. Interment will follow at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery.
