Sidney St. Clair Hughes 49 of 221 Twin Ponds Road Newberry died Saturday July 12 2003 at Lexington Medical Center. Mr. Hughes was born on February 17 1954 in Charleston SC a son of Emmett S. and Mable R. Hughes. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes is survived by his parents of James Island; his wife Gale Bishop Hughes of the home; three daughters Stacy Hughes of Charleston Karey M. Leist of Cayce and Noel H. Emily of Conway; two sons Michael S. Hughes of Summerville and Ryan N. Hughes of Myrtle Beach; two brothers Mark Hughes of James Island and Doug Ethridge of Ashe NC; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a mother Clarice Bunch Hughes Dunn; a son Matthew R. Hughes; and a sister Annette H. Oftadeh. Funeral services for Sidney St. Clair Hughes will be conducted at 6:00 P. M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe and the Rev. Charles Ballew . Interment services will be in Live Oak Memorial Park Highway 61 in Charleston at 4:00 P. M. Tuesday. The family will receive friends following the services at Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at 221 Twin Ponds Road Newberry.
