IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen Eugene
Chinault
September 2, 1951 – January 6, 2026
Stephen Eugene Chinault, 74, of Newberry, South Carolina, died on January 6th, 2026, at Lexington Medical Center. Born in North Codorus Township, York County, PA, on September 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Austin LeRoy and Gladys Marie Ness Chinault.
Stephen was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Glen Rock, PA.
Stephen held an Associate of Science degree from Casper College, Wyoming, and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Forest Management from Utah State University. This led him to a lifelong career in Forestry. He worked for the US Forest Service for 37 years, and took great pride in his position of managing teams in different parts of the country, caring for the National Forests. In both his professional and personal life he lived by the motto of "Making sure everything was good!".
Stephen had a great appreciation for wildlife. Being the outdoorsman that he was, Stephen often enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in his younger years.
Following his retirement with the Forestry Service, Stephen kept his community close at heart by working for Senior Catering, driving meals and groceries to those in need. He always enjoyed the people he met and the conversations he had.
Throughout his life Stephen was a natural gift giver who always demonstrated great selflessness in his efforts to help others. His final act of giving was as an organ donor. He gave the gift of hope to four individuals and their families.
Stephen lived a life that was full of accomplishments — especially when it came to his family. He was most proud of his three sons; and cherished the love of his adored grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Alec C. Chinault (Michelle J.), Dustin L. Chinault, and Joseph M. Chinault (Rie); grandchildren, Henry E. Chinault, James A. Chinault, and Amelia M. Chinault. He is also survived by his brother, Austin L. Chinault, II (Diane C.); and sisters, Barbara J. Senft (Michael M.) and Tana M. Chinault.
