Summer Elizabeth Finch, 20, of Irmo, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, spending her early years in Beacon, NY and then in Quakertown, PA before moving here to the Irmo/Chapin area in 2010.
Summer was a free spirit, a natural leader, and an advocate of a better world. Some of her favorite passions included cheerleading, snowboarding, tae kwon do and art. She loved music and spending time with her friends as well as painting. Her smile lit up the room and her compassion for all was a model of how we should treat each other.
Summer had a profound love for people and animals, especially dogs and cats. She loved doing things for others, including care taking and mentoring children in summer camps as a camp counselor and after school coordinator. She also worked in the service industry, cleaning homes, washing dogs and as a server at Cracker Barrel.
She is survived by father, Dr. Manley Finch; mother, Shannon Frazer and her fiancé, Gene Harvey and his two sons, Hunter Harvey and Tyler Harvey; sisters, Helen Finch and her significant other, Daniel Villalobos, sister, Sarah Finch; brother, Joshua Finch; maternal grandparents, Pat and Barbara Frazer; and godfather, Bill Reynolds. She is also survived by her kitten Beau, who was her best friend.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Linda Nichols, her cousin Tristan McKinley and her cats Stephen and Draco and her dogs, Pugsly, and Henry.
A celebration of life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin. There will be a gathering of friends and family from 1-3pm. Summer's family requests that you come as you are, casual and joyful, to honor Summer and her free spirit.
Flowers are welcome, but donations in her honor to Pawmetto Lifeline, 1275 Bower Pkwy, Columbia, SC 29212 are preferred.
