Susan Christine Livingston Wilkerson ("Christy") passed away on July 30, 2024 in Montgomery, Texas after a long struggle with dementia and dementia related effects.

Born on October 26, 1943 in Greenville, SC, Christy was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert E. Livingston, Jr. and Pauline Wise Livingston and is survived by her sister, Pauline (Polly) Livingston Davis. She was predeceased in death by her brother, Dr. Robert E. Livingston, III.

Most recently, she was a resident of Montgomery, Texas, but spent the majority of her life between Newberry, SC and Wrightsville Beach, NC. She married her sweetheart in 1965, the late James Harvey Wilkerson Jr., who passed away on their anniversary on August 26, 2006. She is also survived by her 2 children: Jay and Paul Wilkerson, along with their wives Beth and Elaine, and 3 grandchildren: Clayton, Jasper, and James Wilkerson.

Christy graduated from Newberry College in 1966 and earned her Masters in Social Work from East Carolina University in 1991. She remained a stalwart for many in need where she served the communities of Wilmington, NC and Newberry, SC in the years that would follow, and eventually retired in 2015. With a giving heart and kindred soul, her spirit continued to blossom as a grandmother to her 3 favorite grandchildren. There was not an event she missed or failed to celebrate along with them. She loved to play cards, handbells at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, and visit with her many friends in Newberry. Whether it was picking strawberries or delivering flowers to those in need, Christy was always on the go, and could never be accused of being a couch potato! She thrived on serving others and many in the local community were able to count on her for her gracious help.

Despite the struggles of her medical diagnosis and what would follow, Christy lived a very full life. She also loved to dance and laugh, and is no doubt dancing in heaven with her beloved "Haahhvee" at this very moment.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.

Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
