Sybil Fountain Koon 91 of Newberry died Friday May 18 2012 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Koon was born on July 11 1920 in Twiggs County GA the daughter of the late Henry O. and Willie Jeanes Fountain. She was a retired registered nurse having worked at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital and the J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. She was a Registered Nurse in South Carolina and Georgia Feature status. Mrs. Koon was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer WELCA the Mens Bible Class and was a former member of the George B. Cromer Sunday School Class. She was also an American Red Cross Nurse Volunteer and was very active with Interfaith Community Services Sister Care and Family and Community Leaders of Newberry County. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son W. Harold Koon who died in July of 1998 and a brother Henry Oscar Fountain. Funeral services for her and her son Harold Koon were conducted at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Dr. David Seymour. Interment did follow in Pomaria Cemetery.
