Sydney Owens Shealy, 37, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Lexington Medical Center. Born on August 19, 1981 in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Keith and Gloria McKittrick Owens. Sydney was employed with BB&T Bank, Chapin Branch. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in the church, working with youth ministry and serving as coordinator of Vacation Bible School. To know Sydney was to love her. She was a carefree, quiet and unassuming woman with a gentle and serving spirit. Her easy-going personality and million-dollar smile warmed many hearts. Not only did she share her love with family and friends, she also shared it with animals. Sydney touched lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Nathan Shealy; children, Camryn Nicole Shealy and Jonathan James Shealy; sister, Kitty Owens Mayer (Scott) of Newberry; brother and sister-in-law, Brandon and Julie Shealy of Florence; in-laws, Deborah and Phil Ruff of Prosperity and Mike Shealy of Prosperity; nieces, Sullivan Shealy, Skylar Grace Shealy, and Grace Mayer; nephew, Micah Mayer; and many loving and caring aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Frank and Gladys McKittrick and paternal grandparents, Calvin and Margaret Owens. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 PM on Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church by Rev. Michael Price. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
