Obituary

Ted Emanuel Ragsdale of Blair SC passed away Friday November 6th 2015 at Providence Hospital in Columbia. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry by the Rev. Dennis Banks. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. It is the request of the family that memorials be made to Hope for the Warriors a non-profit organization that supports service members who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Kennedy St. Suite B-1 Spartanburg SC 29302. Ted was born on January 10 1947 in Newberry a son of the late Dorothy Cromer Ragsdale and John Knox Ragsdale who had lived in Blair. After graduating from Winnsboro High School in 1965 he was drafted into the United States Army and served our country in the Vietnam War. Ted was a huge Clemson fan and enjoyed many trips to show his support for Tiger Football. He loved the outdoors especially being on the farm riding his bicycle and hiking in the woods and along the Broad River. He was a voracious reader of both books and newspapers and was also a connoisseur of the hot dogs in Monticello. He loved spending time with his family and they will never forget his personality and how he kept them laughing. Surviving are his brother John Knox Ragsdale Jr. (Johnny) of Columbia; sister Karen Ragsdale Way of Lexington; nieces Nancy Greer Bundy (Joseph) of Wake Forest NC Amy Greer Smith of Lexington and Vickie Ann Ragsdale of Columbia; nephews Timothy Gerald Ragsdale of Columbia William R. Ragsdale of Brayton Fl Daryll Glenn Ragsdale of Ballentine and a very special nephew Bryan Scott Greer (Shantay) of York. Pallbearers will be Jacob Smith Bubba Cromer John Cromer Jessie Williamson Mike Blair and Steve White. The family expresses their sincere appreciation for the quality of care Mr. Ragsdale received from the team of doctors at Providence Hospital.
