Thad K. Hentz 80 of 1988 Dreher Island Road Prosperity died Tuesday September 07 2010 at his residence. Thad was born in Pomaria on February 12 1930 a son of the late Hugh Sr. and Vera Kinard Hentz. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War Eras. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Lutheran Church member and past president of the Lutheran Men in Mission and was a past member of the Congregational council. Thad was a Life Member of the Little Mountain Masonic Lodge #281 and the Scottish Rites Bodies a Life Member of the Little Mountain Ruritan Club a strong supporter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and a member of the Lake Murray Senior Bass club. In the last 15 years he had been a regular blood platelet donor for the American Red Cross. Thad also loved hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Fran Keeney Hentz; daughter and son-in-law Susan H. and E. Dean Reep Sr. of Columbia; son and daughter-in-law Michael K. and Diane Hentz of Prosperity; brother and sister-in-law W. Alvin Sr. and Virginia Hentz of Ft. Payne AL; grandchildren E. Dean Reep Jr. M. Jason Hentz Tammy D. Abbott Kim M. Hendrix Heather J. Lucas M. Amber Edgemon and Heather D. Hentz; great-grandchildren Calli A. Reep M. Donovan Reep M. Garrett Hentz Trevor R. Brazell Haley R. Hentz S. Camberlyn Reep Hannah J. Lucas Bethany R. Reep Anna Grace J. Reep and B. Wyatt Hendrix. He was predeceased by a sister Betty Ann Hentz Summer; and brothers Hugh Hentz Jr. and Robert Hentz Sr. Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 PM Friday at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randy Derrick Rev. Elford Ruff and Rev. Frank E. Lyerly. Interment with Military Honors was in the church cemetery. The family did receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. A Masonic Memorial service was held at 6:00 PM prior to the visitation. Active Pallbearers were his nieces and nephews.
