Thelma Elizabeth Russell Thomas Schroeder, mother of Beverly D. Smith, formerly of Newberry, died on February 2, 2020 in Midlothian, Virginia. She was born on May 7, 1924 in Little Hocking, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Lefty McKinley Russell and Ella Mae Scarlett Russell. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Corrine Thomas. Surviving are daughters Ella Sue Ackley (Richard) of Midlothian, Va, Beverly D Smith (Ted) of Aiken, SC; son James M. Thomas (Julie) of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Antony Smith, Whitney Johnson, Leslie Ackley Ryan, Matthew D. Ackley, Mitchell Thomas and Kelsey Thomas; seven great grandchildren; a sister Madge Russell Davis of Little Hocking, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Coolville, Ohio.
